What is aspirin and how does it function as a medication to relieve pain, reduce inflammation and prevent blood clots?
Aspirin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It relieves pain and inflammation by inhibiting enzymes that produce prostaglandins. It also prevents blood clots by thinning the blood.
