Cefixime can rarely cause QT prolongation, a type of arrhythmia. Monitoring includes ECGs for patients on high doses or with heart risk factors.
Cefixime has minimal cardiac side effects, but on rare occasions can lead to QT prolongation. Regular ECG monitoring is advised for at-risk patients.
