How does ibuprofen interact with proton pump inhibitors and what impact does this combination have on gastrointestinal protection or drug efficacy?
Ibuprofen can increase the risk of GI bleeding. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) may reduce this risk by lowering stomach acid, thus offering some gastrointestinal protection.
