Doxycycline, as a broad-spectrum antibiotic, can reduce the effectiveness of live vaccines by decreasing the viability of the vaccine’s live organisms. Therefore, it is generally recommended to administer live vaccines either before starting doxycycline or at least 3 to 4 weeks after completing the antibiotic treatment to allow the immune system to properly respond to the vaccine.
