How do corticosteroids affect blood glucose levels and what are the considerations for their use in patients with or at risk of developing diabetes?
Corticosteroids can increase blood glucose levels by enhancing gluconeogenesis and reducing insulin sensitivity. Diabetic patients may require adjusted insulin or oral hypoglycemic doses.
