Renal impairment affects cefixime clearance, requiring dose adjustments. For patients with creatinine clearance <20 mL/min, the dose should be halved to prevent toxicity.
In patients with kidney disease, cefixime dosages must be reduced. Typically, for creatinine clearance below 60 mL/min, the dosage interval is extended to 48 hours instead of 24.
