What are the potential hepatic side effects of aspirin and how should liver function be monitored in patients using it long-term?
1. Aspirin can cause elevated liver enzymes and, in rare cases, severe liver damage. Long-term users should have periodic liver function tests.
2. Chronic aspirin use may lead to hepatotoxicity. Monitoring with liver function tests every 6 months is advised to detect any abnormalities early.
